Last Friday of November.

Fridays are always such a busy day, we have signing, buddy reading as well as assembly in the afternoon, and that is on top of all our everyday learning we do.

Today we have been working really hard to show, respect, quiet hands on the mat, listening ears, good group work and staying on task. Mrs Brattle has been giving us bands when we show these things. Today we earned 106! That is 106 times Mrs Brattle saw someone doing these things.
We got to go outside for a game as part of our celebration.

We also had  some fabulous results for our basic facts test.
Today we  presented four  merit awards ( bronze, silver and two golds).

This is our award ceremony where we sign the national anthem and present the awards .

Here are our award recipients.

Still no grass, but it must be getting close! It is only day 3 though. Have a lovely and safe weekend everyone, see you all on Monday.

Grass heads day 1

Not alot of action on the grass growing, but you can see that our seeds have swollen up with the water. Today we had Mrs Amstrong and she talked with us about the life cycle of a star and we have also started doing some work with other seeds aswell. Mrs Brattle was busy doing testing for our repots so most of the class spent sometime with her, which was great. So as promised here are the pictures if our grassy heads, not much to see but nice to share.

Day 2 grassy heads.

Here is the pictures of our grassy heads on their second day. Still no growth , but some very swollen seeds.

Also Growing in our classroom are our eggs which are now 14 days old! So that means they should be ready to hatch this time next week. Fingers crossed everyone.

Grassy heads!!

This week we have been looking at the life cycles of plants. This afternoon Mrs Brattle showed us how to make grassy heads. We worked together in table groups, we had instructions to follow and some parts were hard and we needed to help each other. Once our heads were made a tied up, we added eyes and a mouth with the glue guns. According to our research our grass should start to sprout in between 3-5 days. We will try to upload photos to show the progress of our grass growth.

Melody the butterfly

On Friday morning Mrs Brattle was calling the roll when something unbelievable and amazing started to occur.
We have been patiently waiting and watching our chrysalis develop and change color. This morning our beautiful Melody the monarch Butterfly emerged from her chrysalis.
We were all able to see her do this ( almost as if she was waiting for us to be ready). She emerge all crumpled up and then she pumped herself up and her wings smoothed out. Melody spent the day drying out on her plant and getting ready for her first flight.

After assembly Melody was sitting on the window sill, Mrs Brattle let her hop onto her finger and carried her to the open window. Melody then flew out the window and was off to begin her next step of the life cycle. Some of Kiwi class saw her flying over the field and landing in a tree.

Watch yourvideo!

Thankyou little Melody for showing us your life cycle and the metamorphosis you went through. We have learnt so much from you. We have 3 more chrysalis left to hatch, so stay tuned.

I have found them !! Here is Max and his hand puppets

In about 21 days kiwi room will hopefully have 12 little chickens hatching out of their eggs.
