We spent some time this afternoon talking about being respectful of each other and ourselves. Sometimes we forget that things we say and do can make others feel sad. We need to remember that even though we may not mean to be hurtful or disrespectful, our words and or actions can still leave a mark on those around us. We each took a piece of paper with our name written on it. Then we crumpled it up to represent all the times we may have been hurtful or disrespectful. After we had done this we said sorry to our piece of paper, unfolded it and tried to flatten it out. Although our pieces of paper were flatten out they were still creased and dirty! The moral of this activity was that even though we said sorry and hand't meant to ruin the piece of paper our actions still left a mark.

First week back!

Ok people here is the first blog for Kiwi class 2013.
Welcome back to school, kiwi community. This week we have been working on some special art work for some important people in our lives.
We worked hard in our reading groups and enjoyed exploring our new trial on reading eggs.
Many of the Kiwi class have signed up to run in the cross country next Sunday, I am very proud to see so many of you trying something new,and a little bit scary.
Good luck to the Kiwi girls in our Plateau School netball team, they play their first game of netball tomorrow.

How to get Pet Ready!

Before you even think about getting a pet you need to make sure you've got everything you need.

First you need to know what pet you’re getting!

Next you need to make sure that you have room for your pet in your house.

Then you need to make sure that you have the right food for your pets. After that you need to have toys for your pet.

Finally you get your pet, have fun with it and love it a lot.

How to plant a garden?

Do you like gardens? This is how you plant one.

First you get the equipment you need; soil, pots and seeds.

Next you put the soil in the pot.

Then you cover the seed under the soil.

Finally you water it every 1 to 5 days.

SOLAR ECLIPSE at Plateau School- 13-11-12

Today from 10.15 until 10.45 we witnessed  the amazing eclipse of the moon over the sun.
We had special glasses which helped us see the crescent shape the moon made as it passed across the sun. We also saw the beautiful aurora that happened with it!

It was so amazing!!!

How can we show the water cycle?

We decided to make a terrarium to show the water cycle.
Here we planted a cauliflower seedling in soil inside a drink bottle which has been cut in half.
We then covered it with the top of the bottle, put it on our class window sill and wait!
What will happen?

Here's what happened :

TRANSPIRATION- water vapour rises from the seedling from the sun's heat

CONDENSATION-when the vapour hits the plastic bottle it turns into water droplets.

PRECIPITATION- when the water droplets become too heavy the fall onto the plant.

IT'S A WATER CYCLE!
