Wicked wheels Wednesday

I really like my storm trooper suit. I painted my bike for today with green, white and black paint. James

I put tinfoil on my scooter, by the time I got to School it had started to fall off ( lucky most of it survived). I also put tinfoil on my helmet to make handlebar antenna. Elliot

My bike had a mine craft face on it. The face was falling off so I took it off. It did look cool. Hayden

I got the stuff to decorate my scooter from my bedroom. The ribbons are from pony club. I feel happy about my scooter. Kiwi class voted for my scooter and I won a prize. Isla

My bike used to be just white. Mum helped me spray it with spray paint, my neighbour helped too. Painting my bike was fun. Thomas

I decorated my scooter with tinsel and lights from my Christmas tree. On the side of my handle bar there was a meteor with fire on the back. Ryder

My scooter was plain today. I really had fun ridding my scooter around the course. I got pulled over by Harrison , he was being a police officer. Baden 

I got my bike for Christmas and it has foot pegs. I got to test out the course on the field for Mr Frater. Brayden 

I rode my scooter on the concrete at morning tea time. It was very busy because there was so many people. Jackson

This morning my scooter had horses on it and a stretchkin and a dog. I took them off because they kept falling off. I left them at home and rode my scooter to school. Shelby 

In the morning my bike wasn't even decorated. We had to quickly decorate it before school. It was abit hard but I am pleased we did it. Petra

I put yellow and green tinsel on my bike. I rode it into school. It had green on the wheels and yellow on the bars. Emma B

My bike is pink with some pink tape tied on the wheels and it has blue butterflies. My bike is big. Autumn

My roller blades are rainbow coloured. I painted them myself, mum helped a little bit I used all sorts of different colours. I did dots and zebra stripes. Emma C

My bike is a mountain bike, I painted on the words. I liked riding it on the field at morning tea time. I even liked having a little crash on the rope!! Beau

Reading eggs

Today I completed a map that I was stuck on, now I'm on my next map. I feel really proud. Lacey.

The girls have worked really hard this morning. Esther has completed reading eggs. She is very excited, she couldn't even believe her eyes!!!

Emma was working so hard on her reading express that she didn't even notice Mrs. Brattle took this photo.

Week 1 Term 1 2016

Welcome to all our new Kiwi Children and their parents and caregivers. We have had an amazing start back to school this week and I am looking forward to us all spending the year together. This blog is used to show people what we are doing at school, share important messages and to strengthen the links between home and school. Please take the time to comment on our blog as it shows the children who is reading about their days and gives them a sense of pride to share with an actual audience. Monday week 1
Wow we sure did get hot today!! It was very exciting to explore our new classroom and get to know Mrs Brattle.

Lucky we had an afternoon swim time.

We worked hard to write down some interesting things about ourselves to share for our art display.

Tuesday we had Lily Brattle (Mrs Brattle's Daughter) come in to help us, she helped us with our cutting out of our hands for our Kiwi.

We also went over to the Library and showed Mrs Davidson our reading journals.

This year we are going to be doing work with our peers in Paua class, we have groups we will work in and we are really looking forward to spending time with each other to help with our learning.

Wednesday and Thursday we worked really hard to set up our Google accounts and practised logging in and out. We set up folders and typed our documents. Some of us even sent each other emails!! Mrs Brattle was very impressed with how well we picked up these new skills.

Friday is always such a busy day and we were all grateful to our wonderful buddy readers from Kea for the fantastic reading we all did this morning.

Terracycle

So far this term interest has dropped in recycling of our toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes and boxes. Kiwi Class have a terraycycling box in their classroom and anyone can drop things off. Things that can be recycled are toothbrushes, toothpaste and boxes from the toothpaste. We send them away and the rubbish is recycled into cool new things like pencil cases, bags and other cool stuff. Please if you are getting new toothpastes or have finished your mouthwash bring the empty containers into Kiwi Class and we will send them away.

Kiwi work together.

Kiwi class love to write and read. We like to learn lots of things. and we also love playing outside and playing sport and making stuff. Also we are all good friends and we respect property and we also take care of people. That is what kiwi class class sometimes do we are a bit silly, But  we are mainly always good.  We are always good at making stuff.

Tuesday 17/11/15

Today we took our uv measuring beads back outside. This time we were wanting to see what could make a difference when we are out in the sunshine. We decided to put some sun cream on our beads to see if anything would happen.

Mrs Brattle put the sun cream on the beads but it was very hard to keep it on because the beads got really slippery. The sun cream did make a difference to the colour of the beads, so we knew the sun cream was working. The colours were not as bright with the sun cream on, as the beads with none on.

Next we thought we would see what it was like under a hat. This was really hard to do because as soon as we moved the hat the uv rays got on the beads and made them change colour. We had to be really  quick to get this photo. 

We also wondered if Sunglasses would protect the beads from the uv Rays. You can see from our photo that they do!!

So, you can see that we have been very busy outside learning about being safe in the sun. Please remember to wear your hat everyday at School for the rest of this term. 

As a treat for being so great Mrs Brattle said we could have a picnic lunch. We got our lunch boxes and sat outside in the shade. Mrs Brattle read us stories while we ate our lunch, it was fun and we felt special.

After lunch we had whole School singing, then we packed up our class and went to visit Mrs Davidson in the library. We started making our reading journals for the school holidays!!

Term 4 you need to wear a hat!

It is very important to wear a hat because you will get sun burnt or get skin cancer. A few Days ago Mrs Brattle  fond some sun UV measuring beads.  We took them out side they changed colour and we took some photos of them. I was in Tora's group with Karen and Sammie and Rohan, we took lots of photos and went to lots of places but it just stayed the same colour. The colours change it when we put them to the light.

last Tuesday we took beads out to different parts of our school to see how hot it gets some parts get very hot its very important to wear a hat the sun can burn you, the hat will protect you from the sun even on clody days you can get burnt.

This just goes to show how important it is to wear your hat. All people at Plateau School need to wear a hat everyday in term 4. Being safe in the sun is a very important thing to do. Thank you to the group of children who went out to measure the Uv rays around the School, it just goes to show how powerful the sun is in New Zealand.
